I am buying a new truck and I found a 1997 that is exactly what i want but i wanted to make sure i would be able to get good power out of it.

 

What kind of power are you talking? You can get power but it's not cheap.

 

Its going to be my everyday driver but I'm thinking for good pulling power hauling heavy loads and the occasional truck pull

Make 1200 on the stock internals. For towing I would get stage one injectors ts chip with custom tunes and beef the trans up with some ats parts or what ever you desire.
