Default EGT sensor to gauge lead wire

Is there anything special with a lead wire for an EGT gauge, apart from high-temperature resistance ? Or can I use any wire as long as it's not close to a heat source ?

I personally don't feel comfortable spending extra dime only because of higher temp capability and would rather have a custom length of wire

You have to use the wire thats meant for pyrometers, can't make your own. If you use anything but that your gauge wont be accurate if it even works.

Depends on who's gauges you are installing. Isspro EV-2 and Performax you can shorten to length that you want.

Autometer can not, or the gauge will read off.

Planning on ISSPRO EV-2. I can live with coiled up lead wire

Cool, I learned something new. I thought it was all pyro's you couldn't modify the lead wire. Maybe that only applies to the mechanical type and some others.
