6.7 tranis

Conversations and postings on various websites I get the idea that early 6.7 trannys had some issues depending on use. I have a late 2008 3500 with Amsoil tranny fluid which I changed out first thing. I have towed several loads back and forth from Seattle to Colorado over the divide and had only one incident of heat build up which I overcame very quickly. So is it just me or did the first batch come from a different source or supplier? or did they change something that might make them more reliable. I have a temp sensor and the Black Maxx monitors the tranny temp pretty reliably with no issues.

Billy D, The 68rfe stock seems to be a decent trans so far when running a mild tune and what not. But as PAP said those trans will not take a beating for very long on the higher tunes with like the H&S and Smartys. One of the best things I would recommend to do for that trans is if you buy a H&S programmer i would recommend buying the trans tuning. It really seesm to help out those trans as well. Another thing to look at as well is the ATS Co Pilot for these trucks works great and helps them hold alot more power!

So far I have almost 58K on my truck, granted the only thing I did to it was put an S&B intake on it when the factory filter was ready to be changed... and so far it's great. Shifts are firm, no issues with it slipping, etc. I use the exhuast brake all the time, and manually downshift it getting off the highway, etc... no issues at all. Truck pulls the trailer with the race car in it no problems either.
No gauges to go by if it's getting hot... but I usually just keep it at about 60 to 65 when towing and I leave it in 5th gear as well, truck doesn't lug like that and it never downshifts once you're up to speed. Fuel economy isn't any worse doing that either when towing.. only thing it does, is stop the trans from having to down shift on the highway.
