Need Help, Airflow problem, Check engine light?
I just put on the Banks cold air intake for the LBZ (I put on the LBZ mp) and I'm having issues. I took the truck around the block and the engine light came on. The truck also seems to have a lot less power now. Could this be due to the increases airflow from the intake and mouth piece? I read somewhere about getting the MAF reflashed to "recalibrate" for the increased airflow and make the LLY run a lot better. Is this what I need to have done or am I wrong on what reflashing the MAF does?
I have done the lly to lbz mp swap, pcv reroute, resonator delete, egr blocker with fingerstick, Banks cold air intake.
Any ideas?

idk about banks but, ive seen other brands cause maf. codes due to more air entering. if its setting maf codes its de rating the engine. Ive seen stock d-max's set maf codes for air leaks around the box/ filter they seem to be tuned very particular. Looks to me like a programmer would keep it from setting those codes. -one more thing, ive also seen one case where a customer installed the maf sensor backwards in the new inlet pipe and it set maf code and engine light. just a thought

This is exactly what I was thinking as far as the code coming up because of the increased airflow so it's not calibrated for it. I'm talking to the people making my efi live tunes so they will ensure that's not a problem if that is really what it is. As far as installing it backwards, everyone has their dumb moments so I double checked today. The sensor will only install one way on the Banks elbow so I has to be correct.
You need to have the MAF 'recalibrated' either via dealer as per the intake TSB or use EFI Live to recalibrate. When you changed to the LBZ intake the diameter of the tubing changed, this threw off the MAF. It must be recalibrated to work correctly or go back to the LLy intake and adapt it to the LBZ mouthpiece.
Yea this is what I figured after some research. I had contacted a chevy dealer and all they could do is set it to the stock settings according to what motor came in the truck according to the vin, ie it would be the stock LLY settings. But, I was planning on upgrading to EFI live so I am going that route. I just got my EFI Live package today, and just sent off my stock tune. I should receive my 5 tunes for my truck within a few days, and hopefully once they are "installed" the truck should run pretty nice.
Well I got my efi live tunes installed tonight and it made a world of difference. The tunes were by Idaho Rob and he corrected the MAF sensor. Night and day difference. The truck runs extremely well now and will flat out hall. And the check engine light doesn't come on!
