Default need advice

Looking at a 1986 F-250 2wd 103k auto with 6.9. Truck starter went out and owner put in wrong starter and chewed up flex plate and ruined starter so i can't start it to see if it evens runs. Going to look at truck tomorrow. Owner says it ran in August but he does not want to put any money into it and just wants it out of the yard. I know it is a risk but for $500.00 bucks?? What are your thoughts?

Thanks

I would agree with DieselCrawler. I would almost say that the engine is worth more than $500 especially with 103k. Definitely worth it.
