Who runs a Vegi Oil kit? I'm very seriously considering it since I can get all the cooking oil I will ever need at my work. I was just wondering what everyone elses opinion was on it? Has anyone ran it on a 2nd gen VP44 truck? greasecar I emailed them for some info and asked them to join our site for info.

 

I saw that greasecar kit on extreme 4x4 looks pretty well engineered.

 

Yeah I saw it on there today as well, that is the best kit I have seen out there.

Well the guys at greasecar emailed me back with awnsers to my questions. I asked what fuel pump they ran and what preasure they kept to the VP44 and this is the response I got. I aslo asked them to check us out and help with any questions. I also asked him in a response to this message how this worked with the high performance trucks.

The kit for the 01 24V Cummins comes with a Mallory comp 140 pump, maintains around 10PSI to inlet of VP44 under load. We are experimenting with other pumps also, but some of them are big bucks. We have a 24V here, runs great but does get the occasional CEL (always has)
The stock pumps do not run over 10psi under load, at least ours did not.

"Yea, I would like to see a pump maintain a bit better then 10 under load, we are looking at others, they are pretty spendy though, for one that is robust enough for hot SVO use.

The 24V Dodge kit with Copilot controller (has adjustable low fuel psi indicator built in) and Flat plate Heat Exchanger and 40 gal tank is $2900

I'm just starting the conversion on my 24 valve using a Plant Drive kit. I did all the research and found, in my opinion, that these guys produced the kit I wanted. I have a stainless steel fuel tank from a boat that holds 96 gallons in the bed with a coolant heated pickup. This goes through a FASS HPFP pump to a heated filter and then a flat plate heat exchanger and finally the VP44. I have extra electric heat on the final leangth of VO fuel line to contend with the low winter temperatures here. I have also fitted injection line heaters. The return is looped back into the supply line just before the pump to prevent warmed oil being returned to the tank and the heat wasted. I'm confident that this will work very well and it's proving to be a lot of fun and something of a challenge fitting it.

 

what other companies make kits? I looked at the 3rd gen kits and they are $3600 from greasecar.

thats pretty steep. then I would have to spend more $$ to buy a filtering system to clean it before I put it in the tank.

 

How much do you have invested in it?

 

Total was $1600 Canadian but that includes gauges (Fuel temp and quantity) sender units, fuel and coolant lines, fittings and some welding work on the tank.
