Default 94 6.5 \97 6.5 whats the difference ?

I have a 97 truck with bad motor, just picked up a 94 motor out of an HD. I know the computers are different and maybe oil lines are too. Is this going to work for me?

i owned a 94 6.5 and then borrowed a 97 6.5 anf the only difference i noticed is that

the pedal is little more reactive in the 97
the lift pump ALWAYS runs in the 97 when thr ign is on, not just the motor.
the light says "wait to start" on the 97 not "glow plugs"

really only difference i noticed i dont see why it wouldnt work

The 97 has the high flow water pump and cooling system. I would suggest swapping that from the old motor on to the replacement. The heavy duty will be a vin F with no E.G.R that might case a smog issue depending were you live.

Yup just did this swap except the other way around. HD has bigger oil lines and different oil filter adapter, injection pump like said, different placement and plug for oil pressure sender, oil cooler lines and I think thats about it for the major things. but everything can be swapped
