yes it will. that is unless the inspector looks for the emissions equipment (such as a cat). just being straight piped wont really change your reading at all, so thats not a problem. but if they need to see a cat in that exhaust, you best have one.

im an inspector for CT, we test for particulates but do not check for equipment. run whatcha brung

no problem.

what you need to find out is if they look for emissions equipment. go to your local test center(s) and ask what the test entails when you go to get it done. my recommendation for now is just get it done without piping it first. better safe than sorry. thats all i got for ya

and dont waste your time gutting it....

yea go ahead and ask anyway. a lot of the time they wont specify on a state site whether if its a diesel over 10,000gvw or if its all... i know CT doesnt and we get it all the time.

usually if you get a notice in the mail it means that you do have to go, or the state has your truck entered in as a gas job. run into that a couple times as well.

let me know how you make out, im curious now

in denver that just did particulate. but if the computer says it has a cat then you better have a cat. so i came up with the stupidest looking thing around. stuck it right on the end of the pipe and had them run it.

not true ^

if the truck says it should have a cat (via the catalyst or non-catalyst sticker under the hood) and if the state checks for the proper equipment on the truck, then you better have it.

all the computer does is decide whether it passes or fails, and ask questions about whats on the truck, compared to what it should have.

that's what i meant. i didn't realized they checked that and didn't have it. they wouldn't run it. does a cat really even do antything on a diesel?
