Default Thinking about buying a 05 wondering about common problems

I have a 12 valve now that I am selling I found a nice crew cab 05 chevy with 129000 miles on it. I was just wondering what are some common problems with this year? I know the earlier ones had injector problems do the llys have those problems as well?

Thanks brandon

It only over heats when you actually tow 23000 gvwr on very hot dry days. But most everybody never uses their truck to that extreme. There is one problem than could arrise,, but it can be fixed on the side of the road in two minutes with an ice pick

The crimps inside the injector harness connection for the #2 and #7 injector can cone loose. Causing the truck to run on four cylinders

very few injector problems over all, some turbo probs, the overheating prob everybody knows about, only ever seen one complaint with that from a gate hauler towing way more weight than he should have. The #2 and 7 probs should be fixed on any you find gm has an updated harness pigtail kit that gets installed if that problem occurs. harness chafing on the ficm bracket and occasional head gasket failures and thats pretty much it

yep, id delete egr sys. but they really dont give alot of probs, an occasional egr valve replacement is about it. I recently did a ground up twin turbo build on a 05 lly. Runs very strong.

I purchased a 1 ton 2005 Silverado in June of 2010 and it had 99,000 miles when I bought it. It now has 125,000 miles, 1/3 of those are pulling a 18' box trailer(not sure of total weight of trailer) and so far the only problem I have experienced was it blew the turbo inlet hose pulling the mountain rd on Highway 330 to Big Bear lake. Ironically I was not pulling a damn thing when it happened. Just pulled into the passing lane and Bang! The mechanic said the only time he has ever seen that happen was when they were pulling heavy loads. Go figure. OTT its been a great truck!
