Default missing oil

i recently got a 94 f250 7.3 powerstroke 4x4 5spd. it has started loosing ALOT of oil. it smokes some mostly when cold. i replaced the crank case breather ($200) and rebuilt the turbo and added a whicked wheel (approx $250) and still uses 4-5 quarts in 30miles or so. im new to the diesel world so not sure what it could be. there is no drips that amount to anything. i have been reading and think it may be injector o rings but shouldnt i have power loss if this is true? there is some oil on oil pan but only enuff to leave quarter size spot when sitting for a day or more but thats it. please help, thanks

yes you could be pumping your high pressure oil through an o-ring on an injector, or even through your injector. at wot, you are pushing 2500 psi oil pressure through your injectors, and only up to 70 psi fuel. Pull your lid on your fuel filter and see how black your fuel is. This would be a sure sign you need some new o-rings on your injectors. PITA little project there, but not too difficult. Just a few things to know about pulling injectors out of these.

You would not be losing that much oil through the injector orings without having a huge pile of other problems.... 4-5qts in 30 miles is way too much...

Turn the engine on and find where it is leaking...
