Default Howling noise like the wind on acceleration

It sounds similar to road noise from tires but more like the howling sound of the wind. It only does it on acceleration. Let off the accelerator and it goes away. Give it gas, and immediately (before the tires can even begin rotating faster), you can hear it. Wondering if it may be the torque converter or something? Got any questions and I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability.

Thanks Ya'll,
Jeff "Sandman" Simpson

Could be a stuck fan clutch. Next chance, grab the fan and see if it moves freely w/ out any play.

Just looked at it. How free is free? (A good spin and it keeps spinning instead of making about a 1/4 rotation?)

Should spin easier than that. Of course if it's a viscous clutch, the oil is probably still thick, hence the hard rotation. Try it when the engine is cool. If it's still hard to spin, then the clutch is faulty.

Thanks Bill. I'll check it again this evening and reply back with the results.

What do you mean Sluggo? As far as that, what do I need to look for or do?

I checked it again tonight and still, it only rotates at most a 1/4 turn before stopping.

It's acting like a solid fan, and I'd ask how long it takes to warm up (temp gauge), but you don't live in one of the arctic states.

Every time I look at the fan (even immediatly after start up), it is turning. Temp. has been staying normal.
