Liberty questions
whats going on guys. i just bought an 05 crd limited. i also own a 99 cummins. aparently the previous owner wasn't very intelligent, which doesnt surprise me since i live in florida, i just had to search the forum and find out where the block heater was... still zip tied to the dipstick. i figured it had one somewhere haha. dont exactly see the purpose of having both glow plugs and a block heater. those glow plugs will be the first thing to go when i get time. i know glow plugs = lots of cussing and money. anyway. what few simple things besides the obvious should i start on? this is my first jeep, and im not going to lie i really dont like looking at it from the outside. green diesel engineering seems to be reputable. can you guys hear your block heater running? i cant hear this one. my cummins heater is very noticible. i still dont understand the "part time 4wd" idea. sounds like failing intentions of a good idea haha. anyway when i was shifting into 4wL at the dealership i had to put it in reverse to get the front dif to unlock after driving around in what was supposed to be 2wh for a while. anyway, 2.8L diesel parts getter will do for now
after reading though the forum for 10 seconds i remembered why i got rid of my 08 duramax. best egr delete method i shall seek

Greetings, Mk38tech,
Think of Part time like "not on pavement". Binding of the driveshafts or damage to the transfer case can occur if used extended.
You can use "Full Time 4 WD" all day and year long.
Shifting into 4L can be tricky- binding occurs on dry pavement so it can be difficult to get in and out of 4WD low.
Please use a own new Thread in the future instead of writing into others- I will move this post within the next three days.
Please make also sure that your post is not confusing between a Cummins or Jeep tech. It makes it difficult for the reader and the ones that want to help you.
welcome on DB

this one is titled DISCUSSION OF JEEP LIBERTY CRD DIESELS. im pretty sure thats what i bought. thats just me though. im still searching and cant find anywhere how to distinguish between a 5 sp and a 4sp transmission. how do i know what i have? im guessing the 5 sp is the one with a manual shift mode option. nor can i find info on whats in the front "axle"
Lol, not different forum - create a new thread
That's easy :
5 speed manual or 4 speed auto tranny.
I know your year and will look into the FSM to tell you exactly what kind of axle you do have. will take until monday ...

The crd liberty only came with one transmission in the states the 5 speed auto. Clean your map sensor and get the gde and tcm flash and call it a day. If you more money to burn you could get their upgraded turbo kit as well
