EXHAUST!!! than and intake, big nasty custom chip, injectors, then a better turbo. not much free HP on that era ford. if you dont want to make huge power, just move the trailer a bit better look into a 1.00 AR turbine housing.

im looking to put out about 550hp if i can. i can afford 5,000$

You probably won't get that much hp with that kind of budget..

 

i think he forgot a "0" some where...

 

youll drop that much on an auto transmission alone. exhaust, intake, custom tunes, gauges, injectors, intercooler, turbo, HPOP, electric fuel system (Beans, Swamps, Airdog), bottom end, studs, and if its an auto then a transmission. Deisel Power Magazine has an article in
November 2011 that is about power combos for 7.3s

 

think big... put a cummins in it.
