Lets Talk Water Meth Pros and Cons
First off Im looking for Advise from bombers who HAVE or HAVE HAD Water Meth on their rigs. I aint look for stories of guys whos buddy is thinking of buying/building/installing. Thanks but thats for another thread another day.
Application-is an 07' 5.9L, Garrett Stage 2 Turbo, Fass 95/150, Banks Technicooler, Ram Air, Banks Horn, 6 gun Tuner with PDA, Bla Bla Bla...
#1 The Truck Runs Great, But I feel Its under powered for the mods Installed, If I Mash on the Pedal on the interstate (on a low power Setting on the 6 gun) EGT's hit 1300+ quick and very little smoke
If Im Going over the pass at just Cruizing speed same thing, egt through the roof, only way I can drop my egts going up the passes is to mash the pedal, causing the trans to down shift causing the turbo to spool faster. (I Think

Question- Do I have a bad power combo? Do I Need to think about a different turbo, or a differant Chip, (went with Banks Due to The Safty features), Or would/could Water Meth Injection Be the answer to my problems? Whats the pros and cons of water meth?
I put on a shitload of miles, do a little towing, a little popping off around town and at any given time Ive got about 1000 lbs of fuel and tools loaded in the bed. HELP!

I've run W/M on both my trucks for years now. Done right, there are no cons, IMO. I believe any naysayers you may see on the subject were experimenting or trying to overdo it for racing and not knowing what they were doing. My application is probably not as extreme as you (hauling a half ton all the time) and I don't know what the 6gun does, fuel-wise. My trucks run only a little over stock fuel (pump mods and a Smarty Jr.) but that was enough to drive EGT into the red zone on long pulls like we see in the mountains. They are now EGT safe. I haven't done it with the 07 because I don't tow or haul much with it, but I can run the 1st Gen ***** out all day no problem, at least until the water runs out.
I knew I would see you here Nadirpoint, expecially after reading the last thread that was started on water meth.

Do you think that the location of the Pyro probe on the manifold could be giving me a higher EGT? How will Water Meth affect the boost levels and spool of the Turbo? And honestly how big of a differance did you see in your EGT befor and after the water meth on your rig?

Not sure why you think your probe location is an issue - where exactly is it? These trucks came off the line to perform in stock form. Anything you do to add fuel drives them into high EGT issues. That might be OK for a play truck, but not a hauler. I get an added 5lbs boost and 200deg less EGT at full boogie, on average.
