I would say no. Stick with 15w40. Just give your engine time extra time to warm so that the oil thins out a bit.

you can use 5w-40 all year.... the 5w means its thin while cold but retains the 40w thickness when its warm i run it get better fuel economy with the thinner oils and still good coverages ..... its what all the new trucks are running ... no fear my friend you'll be good with the 5w-40.... use synthetic too its great I'm getting 20mpg.......88 7.3 4spd no O/D 3.55's with 35's 4x4.... you will see the difference

I'd go 5W-40 if you wanted to go lighter.

240,000? You can. I switched my. 94 at 269000. It was using a qt every 3000 but I did it anyway. I figured it would get worse but it didn't. Actually improved to every 4500 over time. That's not usually the cAse. If it is not using or leaking much then it should be fine. You might do a flush.
