Default alternator

my batteries keep running dead and gauges show very little power. i replaced the alternator and my batteries are still not receiving any charge. any ideas or hints to what might be the problem.

(note) my batteries are good, just low charge.

You may have bad wiring to the alternator. Make sure all wires are good and connected.

Replace cables and ends. Period. I replaced ends the other day; made a huge difference.

JUST had the same problem. Mine was the cables. Just saying, over time, something to look at. I solved mine. I'm NOT an expert but, it may be a place to start on these old Hauses, from what I have heard. Post more questions or the outcome.

Anyone know of a place that stocks the cables for these trucks? The positive is a pain to find.

I have a 2007 with a bttery issue now. about a month ago I replaced both Batteries. tonight I used my trailer winch to load my car. So on the way to the track the volt gauge shows no charging. The truck started fine a couple of times. then on the way home I got a dash light that said check gauges. got hm shut the truck off and wldnt start back up. so I put my battery charger on the truck and one of the batteries started smoking and boiling over. when I replaced the batteries the one that was bad then was on the same side of the truck but this was before using a winch. is it possible I damaged the battery using the winch. even so why would the gauge not show the alternator charging.
