Question Female buying Truck for HUbby, please need help urgent!!

So I am new to this forum and quite honestly only here to get help with purchasing a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 (Cummins, It has the cummins insignia on the outide of the truck) that has 100,000 miles @ 18000 form a dealer. It has a lift large, tires, the car fax is good (2 owners, no crashes/damages), and I really fell in love with it when I drove it! From reading this forum, Cummins dont really start to break in until 100000 mile mark. Is this true?

The reason I came here to you gentlemen is because my Hubby is currently deployed to Afghanistan, and I have no idea what to look for when buying him a truck. Hubby is just providing me the money to go out and get him one and told me to pick out one I like for him ! Lucky me. Anyways, can you guys help out a sailors wife? Thank you so much!

If it's a 5.7 V-8 like the specs say it's not a Cummins no matter what the emblem says.

Thats alot for a 7-8 yr-old gasser with 100k on it.

Getting "urgent" about buying a vehicle is never a good idea.

if its like the dealerships around here the description on the web are not acurate at all, they mostly all say that they are a v8 and when you look at them its a cummins! that could be what is going on here. it is quite obvios which engine it is when you hear it run though. the cummins is a noisy clacking engine . 18k for a gasser is insane though! even for a cummins with 100k seems to be a bit on the high side at least around here, but prices vary from location to location.
if you aren't afraid of posting where you are or where the truck is there is probably someone on here that could help you take a look at it and see what they think of it.

x2 everything i look at on a dealer website says v8...eventhough they advertise it as a cummins and the pics they show are of a cummins truck. for 18k it is a decent deal were i live... and for the 100k miles part.... the cummins will last forever if taken care of... but the rest of the truck still has a 100k on it... i would expect to have to do some maintence.. ball joints and front end parts... lifted trucks usally need more frequent attention in these areas. if it were me i would say go for it!
