Default air fuel ratio gauge

im going to put an air fuel gauge on my truck when i swap motors what kind of sending unit does this truck take i know most of them use the o2 sensor the gauges run from 20-150 dollars and when it comes to buying a gauge it dosnt always include the sending unit so i dont want to rip my self off what does the gauge need to include to hook right into my idi and start reading

no point to it. the soot will clog up any sensor.

ha! i wouldnt let him touch my motor if he thinks a diesel needs a air fuel gauge. it wont tell you ****. you need a pyrometer.

i got a pyro but hes pretty good hes been workin on diesel for years bobcats excavators dump trucks you name it idk he says he has a pda that reads all the motors conditions like water temp oil pressure egt etc.

What would you do if your air to fuel ratio was not right on a diesel?

There is NO reason to install one on a diesel.

well, considering the intake is WIDE OPEN all the time and fuel is ranging by the pedal, it will tell you nothing.

yeah ....... diesel's use a pyro not an o2 sensor....... and other wise yeah use all the guages you can get...oil temp. trans temp. water. boost..... all will help ya decide how well it runs

That and the fact that idi's are mechanically controlled-no computer to hook into.
