Default 6.9 performance

I just got my 1985 6.9 IDI and ive been fixing it. Im wanting to get a more performance out of it. Does anyone know of any bigger injectors for it? and i have heard the good and the bad about putting a turbo on these motors. i have heard that motor cant handle the turbo. is that true? im new to diesel motors and any help would be great

I have seen at least 3 people put a turbo on a 6.9 and blow the motor right away. Then they put a rebuilt 6.9 back in with the turbo and run for years with no problem. My personal conclusion is I wouldn't put a turbo on a used motor.

Injectors have letters on the side. all I know is there are different injectors you can get smaller or bigger I don't know. Go to a International truck dealer and talker to a older parts guy they should know.
