i would like to have any advise on a 2001 dodge diesel with auto trans in it .i am thinking about buying it but i was told to stay away from auto trans in a dodge . truck has 260000 on it the guy that has it bought it 6 months ago and dosent no anything about transmisson.

 

This may be too late but I had a auto in my 01.5 that did well. When it had 93k on it with about 1/2 the miles towing a 5k trailer I put a Edge with Attitude chip in it and it started to shudder on the 3-4,4-3 shifts. To make a long story short the transmission is made for stock HP and any mods will require a new torque converter and a shift kit but I then had a great transmission that lasted till I traded for a 04.5. Many people get 150k and more out of these 47re transmissions but most don't boost the power. Hope this helps, Gerry
