Default turbo choice's

2000 f 350 4x4 7.3 modified by dptuner turbo,injectors,pump,headbolts,intake,6 station programmer,ehaust,ect.. 500 hp im told. my truck started smoking out the exhaust(pretty sure the turbo seals out) should i A. get my turbo rebuilt? B.relace with a new one(NEED SUGESTIONS) C.buy a rebuilt modified? i purchased this truck 3 months ago and i want todo it right and i love listening to my turbo whine so id like to keep that there are just soooooo many differnt ones out there im not sure which ones are problematic or which ones are dependable. im a disabled CASE tractor mechanic so im not flowing with unlimited amount of money but i love my truck and want it right!

I replaced my stock turbo with a GTP38r and it whistles loud, it will go nicely with your mods and a nice new turbo is piece of mind IMHO. I really like the gains in turbo pressure I got and I don't have injectors or big oil (yet). For the $$$ I am very happy with the 38r...just my 2 cents.

From what I can tell I would suggest you go for a T-4 type turbo set up, be it a Modded H2e, or S300 or such... Something on a T4 or T4i mount.

Joe, has made an better choice, my choice was from personal experience, Joe's recommendation is from (and I am only guessing) several years of R&D...

Nothing wrong with the 38R so long as you understand it should be limited to 40-45psi, and 450hp...

No, I totally understand that now, I guess I was wanting to step up and act like I knew what I was talking about and wear "big boy" pants, I will humbly sit back and learn more before opening my mouth...

Curious, what kind of pressures would BKing see with his set up and a T-4 type turbo?
