Default Voltmeter shows discharge

Have been enjoying the posts on here for a while and have found a lot of good info from you folks but now I have a problem. The nut came off the shaft of the alternator and the pulley was just spinning on the shaft and now battery light stays on and the meter shows discharge. I changed the alternator and the voltage reg but the problem is still there. Anybody here have a similar problem that can maybe point me in the right direction? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Check the plug at the voltage reg mine ended up being corroded and one of the female connectors in the plug was broke. Another thing to check is the amp or charge light down where your turn signal lights are. If thats burnt out it wont charge thats part of the trigger wire to activate the alt to start charging. Fought these issues with my truck for months.
