fuel problems?
i have a 04 dodge ram 3500 drw 5.9 24v ho, just put a new motor i believe it is a fuel problem. it starts and runs for about 15 - 20 min and starts blowing white smoke and eventually dies. put diagnostics on truck and is not putting out any codes. ideas at all?
I'm not 100% sure but white smoke sometimes means injectors. I have seen trucks with big injectors blow white smoke but they are not stalling but I have also seen trucks with bad injectors blow white smoke but just run extremely bad but not die.
with a new motor im assuming it has new injectors also? if so from what ive seen on new/rebuilt injectors they white smoke for the first 100-200 miles then clear up, but if its persistant i would say possibly a sticky injector.
it isn't a brand new engine but new to me it has less than 90000 miles on it but my truck sat for almost six months before i got the engine i thought maybe the pump in the fuel tank went bad maybe. did not want to spend $250 on a new pump without getting a better idea on what maybe the problem
I would say injector sticking or something along those linesor possibly bad/old fuel. From what I've seen when the lift pump starts to go it either fails completely or causes the truck to surge and die. It would be a good investment to change the pump regardless so u won't have to worry about it.
