hi all i had a 1991 f250 with the non turbo 7.3L i loved that truck but had to let it go cuz of bad tranny problems. so i always liked the sound of the cummins and i have not heard a lot of bad stuff about em. so whats the difference between the 12v and the 24v and the older and newer. im lookin to get a used one cant afford a new one trying to keep the buget around 10 grand. any thoughts or suggestions? thanks tim

 

The Dodges have gone through there evolutions no different than the Fords. I depends on what you are willing to put up with. Mechanical pumps or common rails, autos or standards. Each has its pros and cons. My preference is the good old 1st gens. The ultimate in keep it simple. The later versions have their advantages, but it comes with a cost. Best suggestion is to prowl around the different generation sections for clues.
