I recently purchased a 1998 motor home with a 24 valve Cummins 5.9 (275Hp), Allison 6 speed, and Freightliner chassis.
I just installed a Banks ‘Power Pac’ system, turbo housing, intake piping, and ‘Ottomind’.
Now when additional power is required to climb a slight grade, or accelerating at slow speeds, the “check engine” light will come on. If I ease up on the throttle it will go out, and when I depress the throttle the transmission will down shift and accelerate OK, and the light will remain off.
What is it indicating when the light is on? I cannot find a list of things that will bring the light up.
There seems to be a slight reduction in available power when the light is on, but that is hard to tell as I have very little experience with this RV or RVs in general.

You should have a scanner hooked up to it to see what code pops up. Then that will give us something to help diagnose with.

 

its sounds like it could be your lift pump. but like stated, u need to get it scanned and find out what it has stored.
