Default Fuel Additive

It seems to be every one I meet has there own idea about diesel additives.

here is what I have been told, I should use them to help keep the injectors clean.

because the diesel don't have the right stuff in it(I don't know what that stuff would be)

I was told by different guys to run 2-cycle oil, Lucas injector cleaner or ATF in every tank of fuel.

what is the benefit? what is the down fall?(if any)

I would appreciate any advice on whats the best to add or if not to add any thing.

Today's diesel is low in sulfur (ULSD: ultra low sulfur diesel)- sulfur is like the lubricant in diesel. 2-stroke oil pretty much puts that back in the diesel to lube it up and that's what I run after I saw this: http://www.johnfjensen.com/Diesel_fu...itive_test.pdf

Oh, don't use 2-stroke in the newer diesel's though!

I use TCW-3 rated 2 stroke in my '06 and it does help keep the chatter down. I also used it in my '03 and it did make a big difference with it.

Haven't used it in my '08 yet, I'm waiting on the emissions stuff to fail so I can have it replaced under warranty and then bring it home to delete it.

2-stoke and ATF won't clean, but will lubricate. Personally I prefer a product that does both, and only run Stanadyne Performance additive (blue label).
