Default Catalitic converter ?

What year did they start putting cats on PSDs? I've heard 96 was optional but 97 was manditory but I don't recall my 01 having one, also heard anything after 94 is supposed to have them. My truck has no tag that say cat like I've been told to look for but one of the POs cut something from the exhaust between the muffler and dp. Just curious so if I need one down the road for emissions testing I can cobble something together.

My 95 has one. I believe all OBS trucks had them. Don't think SD's had them but I could be wrong...

That what screws me up is I'm 99.9% sure my 01 didn't have one. Guess thats what was cut out and since I think I've found shops that are ok with my setup I'll just worry about it later I guess. Really wish mfgs would just pick something and stick with it - I understand the need for progress, etc but sometimes.....

You maybe able to take your vin to a dealership and they should be able to tell you for sure. I know dodge can not sure if ford will though

Good idea, I never thought of that and while I'm there maybe I can find out what recalls have been done.

all OBS had a cat. the early 99s do as well. late 99 to 03.5 did not. for emissions purposes, they don't do a dam thing. mine passed with a hollowed one.
