Default Allision

I have a buddy with a 2001 Duramax with an Allision with 215,000 miles on it. He said that sometimes when he's driving, it will shift up from 1st into 2nd and then shift right back into 1st. He let it sit over night and it was fine in the morning. Its not overheating and the fluid is full. Any ideas where to look?
