what is the best route to go on the tranny, should I rebuild the stock tranny or purchase a different one. It is a 2004.5 dodge longbed with a 5.9 cummins, towing about 12k, tranny seems weak and I wanna put a tuner on.

 

Get you a built one.

 

Best thing to do is to have one built with a billet input, updated apply levers, updated servo pistons and updated sun gears. As well as updating to a laminated flexplate at the least.

if you are going to open it up and up grade it, do billet shafts while you are in there i did everything else then broke the input shaft while towing with a chip
