If my memory serves me right the turbo from the 06 is a vgt turbo if it's a stock turbo, which means you'd need an aftermarket controller for the vanes to work right, if its an aftermarket turbo with no electronics your still looking at needing an adapter to mount it to your exhaust manifold unless you get an 06 manifold. And if its aftermarket it is also going to depend on what size turbo it is. Aqgain I may be wrong but that's what I can remember off the top of my head. Hope that helps

its the same manifold flange on the 06 its a t3. but you will have to have a vgt controller for it to work. but there are many doing this and it works great. they are even taking the ve361 6.7 turbo with the aftermarket controllers and putting them on the 2nd gens. and it works great spools up really fast and works on even a stock vp truck.

The turbo on an '06 is an HE351CW not the vgt. It will bolt to the manifold but you will need the fowllowing.

Downpipe with 4 3/8 flange and clamp.

Clock the comp. housing

Possibly slightly modify the oil return.

Block off the waste gate.

Get some connectors and pipe to hook it up to the intercooler.

The he351 measures 60/60/9 so its a huge upgrade over the old hx-35

its the same t3 square hook up you will just have to reclock the housings on the turbo for the 2nd gen manifold. and ofcourse you have to have a new down pipe its not a hx35 outlet.

and yes a turbo on an 06 is a vgt turbo cummins started putting vgt turbos on the trucks in 2005 the 03-04 had the mechanical wastegates but 05 went to vgt. 05-07 5.9 has vgt, 07.5-11 have vgt with exhaust brake.

why do you block off the waste gate? out of curiosity i was told every turbo needs one so the turbo doesnt destroy its self and not because of hight boost somthing with releasing the pressure in the turbo if not fins let loos or somthing, dont quote me on it still learning

your not supposed to block them off. it is used to regulate boost pressures and to keep them from surging at high boost and high rpm. the fins wont exactly let loose but the wheel its self will bust and blow apart when over boosting and over speeding the turbo. but likw we were talking in previoius post the vgt turbos have no wastgates its all electronically controlled and has adjustable fins in the turbo to control the boost and turbo speed.

You are nucking futs. The first vgt came on the 6.7 (07.5+) all 5.9 turbos are fixed geometry, or non vg.
