Default Truck tool box?

I found a local guy wanting to sell his diamond plate tool box... He said he doesn't have the key for it. Is there a way to get a new key for it for cheap?

what kind of tool box is it and what handle does it have. Most of them you can get a new handle and key set pretty easy and decently affordable

He says he is pretty sure it's a Delta but the logo's had been taken off. The handles are on the sides...

There will be a number on the side of the lock, right where the key goes in. Take that to a lock smith and you have a new key... It will be a 0245 or L437 or something like that.

The guy is asking 75 bucks. I bet I could get it for 50 and it still looks clean.

Thanks for the info Joe! That's exactly what I wanted to know.

Tired of having all my extra crap sitting in the back seat.

You can use a desk lock from the local hardware store if you're any good at fabricating.
I bought one with the exact same problem. Went to the hardware store bought a new lock did a little grinding on the metal tab and presto new lock that works like new

Getting a key for that box is a piece of cake.
As mentioned, the key code is stamped in plain view.
Keep in mind when you put stuff in it, that these boxes
aren't secure at all and can be opened at night, in
your driveway, with out making much noise at all.
My take on these is, don't put anything in there that
you can't afford to lose. The price is right, and they do
look nice, but a twelve year old can break into one.
If you're looking for security, consider a job box.

Weather Guard, Protech, and Hwy Products make boxes you will not get into without making some noise...

However your going to pay a butt load of money!
