Whats the point of tow/heavy tow tunes on TW tuning??
To my understanding, a tow tune typically gives you SOME power increase, although it's typically dialed back more than other tunes.. but it also maintains EGT's better and it alters upshifts/downshifts.
Can anybody explain the difference in a tow tune vs regular tune, and can you explain the light vs heavy tow?
I'm getting a TW tune soon *hint hint*, and am thinking about getting the heavy tow tune put on there, but would like to know why it really benefits.
Also is it true that the tow tunes automatically downshift the auto trans to use the motor for braking power?
I'd like to know any and all info on the tow tunes. And prices

But whats the point of this tune? Does it keep EGT's lower? Does it make the trans handle the upshift/downshift of the load better? I dont know because this is my first auto diesel; I've always hauled with straight drive
I would have to guess its all about fuel delivery... Although I am no tuner. I'd have to drive my tow tune again but I don't think the shift points are changed really... All the positions on my chip have different shift points then factory tuning though.
This is my understanding
The tow tune
1 sets the timing to increase the turbo response which helps it the egt's, and low end tq.
2 ups the line pressure and changes the shift points in the trans, may hold the shifts longer
if there it does any more then that then I don't know.

If you are towing, you want a tow setting. You will find it you try and tow (heavy loads, long hills) in the "Extreame stetting" you will get real hot and not able to cool it off. That is just to much fuel for towing.
