in my opinion i would look for something else. PPE is a good tuner and alot of people like efi live to name a few. but i think you will be happier with something other than hypertech or superchips

thank you for your input, i am well aware of better tuners out there. i simply want to know about this particular tuner, and NO OTHERS. i am a budget builder, and a $100 hypertech tuner happens to fit in my budget, SO, if thier is anyone out there that can tell me about the HYPERTECH POWER PROGRAMER III, rather than telling what is better or what i should do, i would greatly appreciate it.

everything should be relatively safe even on the highest setting, the hypertech is very mild, it should smoke a little, You should have some fun with it, for $100 you cant go wrong

As long as it is not vin locked it is a good entry level (budget programmer) if it is vin locked it is a $100.00 paper weight.

Make sure the seller has his vin deleted out of it before you pay, if he is close to you ask him to load in on your truck before you exchange the money, if it does not work on your truck then it will save money.

Yeah i am meeting with the guy this weekend and trying the tune before buying it. but the one thing i dont know about it yet, Is there a break in period for this tuner? or can i just level 3 and go? but i can agree, for $100 is a good buy if the tuner actuall loads up. but more smoke huh? my wife will like that. She loves to see her DMAX smoke, LOL yes it is her DMAX. I just tinker on it and make it what "I" want in a truck, even though its her's. i got stuck with the honda. LOL but when the honda gets paid off shes getting a LMM or LML.

There may be a little break in period but not much, level 3 is not that big of gain on hypertech. It is enough not to tow heavy on level three.

Take it easy, and don't expect too much, if you are wanting to race or smoke this is the wrong programmer for you.

It will smoke a little bit, but it wont be a big black cloud.. probably a light haze, the tunes are pretty mild, the TAPS shouldn't take too long to adjust

For the LLY:

Stage1: 32HP & 68TQ

Stage2: 52HP & 108TQ

Stage3: 87HP & 173TQ

I would assume 87HP & 173TQ would register on the driver-seat-o-meter. as for expecting alot, i not rally wanting anything that is going to cause me to rebuild my tranny just yet. as for smoke, if it smokes alittle more than stock i would be happy, but i'll live if it doesnt. when it comes to racing, im looking more for highway 0 to 75. i have no desire to run to the track with this tuner. But i would like to smile and wave as i burn past my buddies on the highway. and if math serves me right i will be running close to 400 HP at 730 TQ which is plenty for me till i get my tranny upgrade after next deployment. and when it comes to towing. i dont have anything to tow yet, but the wife wants horses, so i guess i'll be dropping thwe power level for that

TAPS? guessing your taking about the break in thing. but never heard TAPS before. but no big black cloud is fine. just something to make the misses happy. LOL she likes her diesel smoke, it makes her horny...LOL its a win - win
