I was wondering is it helpful on the transmission to make it shift hard if your chip allows you the option of a hard shift or a smooth Or does it just tear up your tranny quicker?

 

Firm is better, not necessarily hard, but firm. There are no chips for 6.0's. There are programmers like SCT's, and there are "programmers" more like a fooler like bullydog/banks/anything else. The SCT is one of the only ones that can actually access the TCM (transmission control module) and physically TUNE it. Not just raise line pressure like others.

The faster you can get a clutch pack close, or engaged, the less slippage in the clutch packs. Too fast will create a shock in the drive train, like popping a clutch. As Mdub707 was saying, a happy medium keeps everything happy.

You're not really going to be able to fix anything with the bullydog. For now just keep it on a lower power setting and be easy with it.

You could always just sell the thing on ebay or craigslist, and then take whatever money you get and buy a used SCT off the forums. I've seen used X-cal2's for as low as $150 shipped... you should be able to get that for your BD. then just order one custom tune at a time. Get a street tune for $50 or whatever and rock that for a while or until you're bored with it. You don't have to go out and buy a new $500 SCT with extreme tunes....

Mine are 6" stacks just FYI. I'm glad I went with 6" instead of 5". 5" looks goofy to me now...
