Default It sprung a leak!

I just bought my 2000 Dodge 4x4x in Arizona, with a bad injector pump and had a local shop there install a new pump and a Raptor transfer pump, so I could fly in and drive it the 1750 miles back to Illinois. I performed flawlessly except for slow shifts in the trans that have been fixed with the addition of new solenoids in the tranny. It got an honest 20 mpg at 75, with the tail gate down and with NO programmer on, because I didn't yet know how to use the Edge programmer it had on it.

I was 65 miles from home yesterday with my new truck and my girlfriend noticed a small "puddle" under my truck, but never said anything to me about it.

When going through a small farm town just south of us, the engine simply shut off and when I was hooking up a chain so a friend could pull me the 13 miles back to the house I saw fuel all over the left front corner of the truck's underside!!!

QUESTION: What might have ruptured to cause this leak? Is there a flex line that connects the main fuel line to the injector pump, or are they all solid steel lines? I'd like to know where I need to start looking for this fuel leak.

Is it possible for a professionally-rebuilt pump to spring a leak that would shut down the engine? I have a LOT of experience and training in the gas engine stuff, but diesels are somewhat new to me - speaking on the repair side of things.

Thanks for any competent help.

turn ur key on, and bump the starter so the lift pump runs, look for the leak. should be able to find it that way ive never used a raptor so not exactly sure on the whole set up of it. sounds like they didnt get something tight somewhere though. good luck

One thing to check could be the drain valve on the fuel filter bowl. Mine hadn't ever been messed with since the truck was new, then when I installed my Fass 150 I used the drain valve. Well apparently since its never been used i destroyed the o rings or what ever it has. So when i first drove it, it was leaking out the drain valve and soaked the frame rail and everything else on the drivers side

I was really amazed to learn that these trucks don't have a flex line at the rear of the injector pump to isolate vivration.

The truck's in the shop now, so we'll see what's up in an hour or so................
