Default 99 cummins???

Hey guys, I have an 02 dmax but my brother is selling his 99 24v and am debating selling the dmax and buying the cummins, is there any thing I need to know about the truck like any possible problems I may have. Btw it has 199,000 miles a quad adr and its a 5 speed

hes referring to this rare issue with some blocks cracking, most had a 53 casting number in them, less than 1 percent actually cracked.

Ok guys just went and checked the truck, it DOES have a 53 block. Do I need to worry about this? When could it give me trouble? Btw all the parts I listed above are all brand new.

I can't decide, I love the dmax but I like the sound of the cummins better, and that it is a 5 speed.
