Has anyone had any experiance with biodiesel??? I was reading up on it and it sounds to good to be true

 

its a lot of work and messy.

 

I have an old co-worker who uses it. in 2006 he bought the system for about $2000. I took him 3 full 55 gallon batches before he got the "chemistry" right on tests. He cuts it hard with methanol to clean it up. After all the trial and error, and years, he's down to around $.70 a gallon. But he uses fryer oil from a few different eateries, filtering 3 times with different media prior to starting the process.

Biodiesel is the widely accepted alternative fuel, it will avoid problem of environmental pollution, biodiesel means may be vegetable oils, biogas and alcohol, this has many advantages, because it is made up of vegetable oil, the viscosity of vegetable oil is very high which causes poor atomization and high spray jet penetration. Biodiesel decreases the smoke density and engine show better performance for blends with diesel rather than other oil.

 

have any of you ran it before? and do you think it would be worth the trouble of going through to make it, i know .70 cents a gallon is very nice compaired to the 5.00 dollars its going to be in one year.
