will man the gas truck it will take a lot of work you will have to change rear end in it cuz that gas rear end cant hold the power and i thank also you will have to make the frame stronger. and idk about the chevy

You're going to gain a better engine

Just messin, but the cummins into a 1500 would be pretty costly. So would the cummins into a duramax. All depends on how much you want to spend

You would spend more trying to swap a cummins into a duramax truck, then modifying it for power then it would cost you to just build the duramax up, that's why I asked, heck you could probably build a 7.1 stroker for the cost to swap a cummins and get the allison to work..... but hey its not my money

Twin Turbos?? an you wanna take an put a cummins in?? Keep yer dirty max, an if your already runnin twins keep building. No point in swappin a cummins in.

As far as putting a cummins in a 1500 its not really worth the time and effor youll have swappin parts!

Default i

i have seen alot of people asking the same question... what do you need/how hard is it/ can you put a 24v cummins in a 1500 dodge ram? and quite frankly no one have answered it. So my question is... (besides costing alot or "not worth it") can someone answer the original question please? i have a 97 1500 ext cab thats lifted and is fully loaded but it doesnt have a motor or trans, and i also have a 98.5 24v cummins with low miles but the body it really messed up and its a base line truck. i want to take the drive train out of the 98 2500 and put it in the 97 1500. what do i have to do and how hard is it?

Yes it can be done because I did it. I started with a 2001 1500 and bought a wrecked 1999 24v Cummins. The frames are all the same on second gen dodges from 1500-3500. Basicly what you have to do is have a complete donor truck and swap everything including your axles. So its either that or just swap the bodies out its your choice and depends on how much work you want to do
