Mean Green Alt
Any of you Bombers have any experience with these? 200 AMP Mean Green Alternator : GM Alternator : Mean-Green.com Been looking at upgrading cuz of all the power drain with acc. Also was thinking bout some Optima batteries.
Looks pretty cool, never heard of them
Optimas can be a mixed bag, I had pretty good luck with one i had in my car, but i think i finally killed it, but only after charging, killing, charging, killing, freezing it etc..... it stood up pretty well, it still holds a charge, just not the best any more
I was considering a pair of Optima's myself when these batteries start taking a dump

The mean green are a big number in germany. Everybody being serious in off roading or in car entertainment uses them overe here.
these alternators are the perfect supplement for AGM batteries (Optima, Hawker, Exide) . Because an AGM battery can take and store all the current an alternator can deliver. That means in return: extremly quick recharge even while extrem cold conditions.
Standard acid batteries can't do this their current is limited during cold conditions.
A general rule:
the less internal resistance of the battery the quicker the recharge.
That means an old battery with a raising internal resistance does not take the charge that good anymore which explains your experience, Brite.

Sounds good , thanks for the info. I think I will pull the trigger on one in the future . With all the drain like liftpumps ,compressor, amps and etc should be a good idea. Also found some HIDS at a good price . HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning if anyone wants some...
added info:
You should know that an alternator at idle delivers only 50% of the max. current. A 200A alternator shrinks down to 100A at idle.
But full load is right behind idle that means at 1500 to 2000rpm.

Im going with the 55w hi/lo kit in either 6k or 8k
