i just bought this truck a few weeks ago, its an 03 with 127k, slt model sierra ext cab short bed. threw a plow on it last weekend and plowed 32 hours for the city in 4x4 hi. never had a problem..... although when i bought the truck i noticed at red lights when i let off the brake it feels like the driveline has some play. lastnight i took my plow off and parked the truck this morning i go to put in 4x4 to get up a hill and im spinning out back and my 4x4 light is on like im actually in 4 hi. im wondering if my transfer case is messed? including that issue im having when i let off the brake sometimes at a stop? maybe just an actuator? any help appreciated thank you

 

Manual or push button? No "service 4x4" code on dash?

 

its push button, nope no service 4wd light, when u push the button it acts as if its in 4wd, light switches to 4 and all

If u have any leaks in it at all it will run it dry fast! i had the "pump rub" issue on my first t-case and had to get a rebuilt one, then i just had to put another one in two days ago cuz i had a small leak between it and the tranny and a little at the yoke. Went through 2 in 8 months so make damn sure it has no leaks at all cuz if it does and u use it it wont take long for it to run dry and tear its self up. I had no service 4wd light come on on either t-case.

 

i have the same problem right now. i hit the 4x4 button, it acts like it wants to engage but never does. if i listen carefully i can hear the transfercase trying to lock into 4x4 but it never does.. what should i try doing?
