hahahahaha i knew somebody was gona throw in there about the "pull the covers over the head" dutch oven.....but thats they wrong one but i plan on using it over coals and not in the oven...be more realistic over coals, and the history behind them...cowboy flavor and the cowboy kitchen comes on RFD-TV and they cook with them...cakes and cobblers, soups, country fried steak...anything you can think of...im gona have to invest in a couple i do believe

ive done a ton in them, pizzas, cakes, cobblers, pot roasts, etc. anything you can cook in an oven or on a stove you can cook in a dutch oven, just a diff technique to get it there.

I have several and use them regulary for bout anything, get one that has the recessed lid so you can put hot coals or bricketts ontop as well...........a dutch oven with a dome lid is worthless in my book

my favorite recipe is after dinner on the open fire open a can of cherries and put in the greased up dutch oven then a white cake mixed up on top of that, put hot coals on top whilest the oven sets on the coals of the fire, when its done ya tip it over on a plate and it makes a wonderful cherry cake dessert
