Default will not start when cold out

I have a 95 7.3 powerstroke. I plug it in but it will run the battery down trying to start I always have to hook up the jumper cables up to get it to start up. What is going on. Is my fuel pumping draining off and causing my truck to have to get the fuel back up or what. I need help.

if the truck wont start after it being plugged in its one of two things, either a bad block heater or bad glow plugs, you can have your glow plugs checked by a mechanic or you can do them yourself, theres a thread on here somewhere that will tell you how to check them.

thats not exactly true. he never said how cold it is where he lives. have you checked your fuel filter to see if its full of fuel after sitting?

The block heater does work. So I need to check the filter to see if fuel is still in it. If their is no fuel in where the filter goes then what could be the problem
