Default 1997 f350 4x4 steering

im looking at a 1997 f350 4x4 and the steering is loose is that normal? it has a 144,000 miles on it and with the heavy engine is it normal? or is that a sigh of a rard life?
it also smokes white on start up but after u start driving it all goes away and little black smoke when u get on it and no white. dose that sound normal? it is stock other then an exhaust and cone

No it isn't normal it probably has worn parts wich is typical of a truck of that age, you're really lucky if you buy a 97 and it dosn't need any work. As long as the price reflects the condition of the truck things like loose steering can be fixed.

12,900 is over double what I'd be willing to shell out for a 97 Powerstroke unless it were a Crew cab in excellent condition.

that price is average

My truck is a 97 f 250 single can 4x4 148,000 (when bought) it was an old county vehicle so I know it was maint. regularly and ascetics id say are a 7 or 8 inside and out

to give you an idea I have two buddies who bought a 2005 cummins with 103,xxx miles loaded ofr 17K and one who got a 2006 with 70,xxx miles loaded for 16.5 both long bed quad cabs

those are both rare deals but if you wait you'll find a screamin deal and you'll know it

Nothing will cost you more money then wanting something NOW

Not many powerstrokes in the 94-97 range are worth more than 9k.

White smoke at startup can be normal.

Steering box causes a lot of slop. I just replaced mine.
