Default SCT + Edge Juice w Attitude = ?????

First of all let me say Edge is junk. I am wanting an SCT but am toggling between the Livewire and a handheld unit. Can I use the Edge (turned all the way down) along side of the SCT handheld? I already have the Edge and would use it simply for monitoring vitals. Is this ok or just asking for trouble? Also, as far as the SCT goes, SF3 or X3?

Thanks

Yes you can. Some guys have even used the SCT for transmission only tuning, and their Edge for power tuning. Not that I would recommend that, but it can be done.

OK, sold the Edge. Actually, traded it for a new Ruger (I can never have enough toys that go boom).
Gonna order an RCD EGR delete and the Livewire 9600 off eBay. I've heard the RCD can be had for $185

SCT is an auction from More Power Tuning and I'm not sure where to start as far as offers go. It is a Livewire, EGT probe, window mount, and 3 custom tunes for $569.

Heard anything about custom tunes from More Power Tuning? I know I have a lot of questions but any help or opinions are appreciated

No I have not heard of them, and I would strongly recommend using tunes from someone like Innovative, or at least someone you have heard of. A lot of the SCT dealers on ebay are more mustang oriented, or at least gas powered ford oriented, and they "try" to write tunes for the diesels. I'd stick with a known name.

I was originally going to buy an SCT from ebay too, but once you factor in the cost of buying tunes after that, it's better to just get it right from the tuner. Innovative sells a bundle of 3 tunes for $165. Something you'd normally get for free with the purchase of an SCT from them... Just something to think about.

You can of course always buy a used unit off of the forums and then just buy a tune at a time if you don't have all the cash up front.

Friend of mine bought a used sct for his 6.0 It was listed as having custom tunes for a 6.0. He got the programmer and installed it on his truck. Truck is now DEAD. Come to find out it had tunes for a Mustang.

Well regardless, the SCT should have save the factory file, so he should be able to put it back to stock!?

That sucks, hope he can get it figured out.

It has to be taken to the dealership to have it reflashed by them per SCT.

I have heard of this happening in a few RARE cases. I believe there is something actually wrong with the programmer right? Once he has it reflashed from Ford, he should be good, but the SCT may have to get sent back correct? In the 3-4 years I've been on the diesel boards, I've only heard of this 2 or 3 times including this case.
