i have a buddy who has a 09 f 350 and he was having some cooling issues and he was low on antifreeze and added a little water to get it to dealership and the truck didnt even make it 3 miles then engine went POOF. the dealership told him they were haveing problems since 08 with radiator and cooling systems, and to top it all of they wont warrenty it because he added water to it??? so might wanna warn your buddy if his coolant is low dont add water either

that was mostly do to t-stats sticking.. there was an update on the rad. and the t-stats.
and when ever you replace a radiator your to replace the t-stats

skinny.. i would tell your buddy to fight it! there is no way they can deny warranty. on adding water to get a truck to the shop. if the failed part/parts has already failed...

I HAVE 08 F-350, AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE COOLING SYSTEM, AND HAD TO BE RETRO-FITTED WITH A "T", GOING TO THE RADIATOR, THAT RELEASES PRESSURE, ETC - THEY TRY NOT TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR, IF IT GOES BAD, BUT IT CLEARLY SAYS ITS A DIRECT RESULT FROM THE RECALL, AND THE RETRO FIT- ITS BEEN 2 YEARS SINCE MINE WAS DONE, OR I WOULD GIVE YOU THE EXACT INFO -BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT , AND IT WAS REPLACED, ETC.. HOPE THIS HELPS !!

I checked the Car Fax before I purchased my 08 F250 Super Duty and I saw that the radiator was replaced by Ford 1 year after it was purchased by the owner. Hopefully that fixed the problem and I won't have any issues with it.

So far no problems with the cold weather, I will see what happens in the summer.

This was an issue on Job 1's mostly, they have since remedied the situation.

What I really don't get is how someone can go plop down $30-$40k on a USED truck, and not do 5 minutes of internet research. I mean really? This is one of the most common issues with a Job 1 6.4.
