I think when they get the Common rail tuning software running better. It will be a viable contender. Many people have there opinions set. for highway duty, those engines with a good software program will out do the old mechanicl Ideas. We are seeing history repeat its self through the diesel performance realm. Eventualy Computer controll will be the norm in racing reguardless of fuel type and event.

Id go with CR for drag racing and 12v for sled pulling.

I have often wonderd this same thing myself and from what i have read and seen would think it would be the 12v.... but any more the CR is getting dialed in very well with the electronics.

the CR injection system is superior for a driven truck and no one has had to bother with dual injectors ...yet.
but the bottom end is the CRs weakness and the strong suit of the 12v.

If I had the funds I would run a 12v short block and CR head/injection. $.02
