Hey guys I am about to start a job on an oil rig and as some of you know you have to travel a good deal of highway miles to get there and when you get there there is gravel rock dirt and mud leading up to the rig. I was hoping someone could help me out to which tire would be the absolute bestto fit my needs. The terra grappler I'm not sure I want cause I was reading earlier on here on how they suck at lasting. I was wondering if anyone has those Michelin ltx a/t 2??? I kinda like them. Thanks guys!

 

michelins wear like steel. to me the wet traction is lacking. i would personally like something a little grippier. but for your application i think they would be perfect. bought my 06 used with 33000miles. the rears were worn (probably due to p.o. doing some showing off). the fronts are original and i now have just over 80000miles and have never rotated since ive had them. still drive great.

 

Nittos wear real fast.
Michelin's are good, but their slick u can get stuck in stupid **** like grass.
i run Dueler at Revo 2 in a 285/75/16 and i cand complane.There are great on road, very quiet and smooth. There awesome off road 2.

for an at tire bfg at's are good tires...michelin's are also a good choice. if you wanna get into a little more tire ive had dick cepek fun country's that i liked too.

 

Goodyear Wrangle Silent Armor's are rated pretty good. I'm on my 3rd set of them, and I am very impressed with them. I do mostly hiway, but gravel roads and prairie trails are also traveled frequently.

 

Toyo makes some of the best rubber on the road. Toyo A/T, Toyo H/T, and Toyo M-55 (these are pricey but designed for a lot of gravel driving).

LTX's wear really good on pavement but they are crap on snow and ice (which shouldnt be an issue for you anyway).

Despite being a mud tire I have had absolutely great wear from my Cooper ST's and I dont rotate them either. The rubber compound is pretty hard. Again, they suck on ice.

I'll second the Dick Cepek FC-II's. I love them. I've got around 20k on them with all sorts of different surfaces.

 

I like like yokohama geolanders A/T-s, they have been great for me amazing in snow rain highway and mud, the tread seems to last quite awhile so far and they arent that expensive either.

 

Michelin LTX A/T 2 and Michelin LTX M/S 2, also the the Toyo HT Tuff duty look like nice tires and when I looked were priced at good $50.00 per tire less then the Michelin A/T 2 and IIRC $72.00 less then the M/S 2.
