U.S. Ranger to be dropped after 2011.
Just the Facts:
* Ford will unveil its new Ranger pickup at the Sydney auto show.
* The new Ranger will not be sold in the U.S.
* Current U.S. version of the Ranger will be dropped after 2011.
DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford has released a teaser image of its all-new Ranger pickup for Asia, while confirming that the U.S. Ranger will be dropped after 2011.
The new Ranger (code name T6) was designed and engineered in Australia and will be assembled in Thailand, alongside the redesigned Mazda BT-50. Both trucks will debut in mid-October at the 2010 Sydney Auto Show.
The Ranger gets a new four-cylinder engine family with more power and enhanced fuel economy.
Ford said the truck will be sold in 180 markets around the world, but not in the U.S.

i still don't understand Ford sometimes, dropping the Ranger in 2011 IMHO is a bad decision for them. also i have been wandering why they have been selling the 4 door ranger in Mexico for years yet do not want it in the American market. it would compete better with the Dakota or Cheyenne or the other small trucks on the market.....
