Default please help

i am going to change the steering clutch on my 450b john deere dozer,i been told that they can be done up top with out removeing the final drives.i have my tanks all off and top covers off.my sprocket dose not have a hole in it to pull out the final drive gear out.dose this matter or do i got to split the tracks and remove the final drives?can any one help?thanks
