Can I Do Without A Tow Module?
I'm possible picking up a jeep cheroke sport that I'll have to tow on a car trailer. do I need a brake module? I'll be traveling 700 miles round trip.

thx
If there is a lot of hills I would suggest buying a cheap module. You can probably pick one up for $60-80 and easy enough to install and save some wear and tear on the truck. If you are hard on the brakes while towing, warped rotors are not to cheap replace - Use common sense and you will make the right decision

No problem at all. Trailer brakes are good for safety sake on loads of that weight, but your truck is heavy enough to stop it easy, your talkin less then 8000 pounds. I haul that all the time without even hookin up the trailer wires and don't have any problems stoppin.
a brake contrller is always nice to have.... nessary pulling an average size car? prolly not like stated above..... just make sure before you get one that your trailer has brakes on it....
I can't believe you guys would condone or even advise someone to pull a load that size without brakes. Pretty sure anything over 4000 lbs is required to have brakes. Wow!

I went 1100 miles with a ranger on a car trailer LOADED down with all our crap twice. I had no problems but I didnt speed and kept alot of dispersion with the other cars on the road.
